On Wednesday, BlackBerry signed a technology and brand licensing agreement with the Swiss consumer electronics manufacturer Punkt Tronics AG for BlackBerry Secure, which will be installed on phones and other smart devices.
"If something 2017 taught us, it is necessary to ensure that every device is secured because any vulnerability is found and exploited," said Alex Thurber, senior vice president and general manager, Mobility Solutions, BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry Secure license provides product manufacturers with a deeply integrated security solution that includes proprietary BlackBerry software and applications.
"Since cyber security is becoming a concern for every home and business, manufacturers like Punkt recognize the value of protecting the integrity of their innovations," Thurber said.
This agreement allows Punkt, also known for its minimalist phone called MP01, to introduce a range of highly secure products that include BlackBerry Cyber-security technology, will be certified as a BlackBerry Secure and securely connected to home and business networks.
"In Punkt, we focused on using technologies to help us adopt good habits for less dispersed lives and do it with carefully designed products," said Petter Nez, CEO and founder of Punkt.
Products built with components from the "BlackBerry Secure" platform will have the best security in their class to help protect the privacy of end users and businesses.
